This is, essentially, a distillation of my conversations and investigations re: dubstep, from the time when I first heard the term, through to the Grammy Awards this last week.

To date, all I’m tentatively certain of is that it may have something to do with “love” (charmingly rendered in the subgenre’s lexicon as “wub”), but even that part is hazy.  If true, however, that must mean that dubstep is the official EDM subgenre of Valentine’s Day, right?

Now that’s a segue for ya, boys and girls.

I actually have no real opinions on the topic of dubstep or Skrillexeses.  It’s not really my “thing” when it comes to music.  I am passingly familiar with EDM and it’s relatives, but it’s not something I have ever, or ever plan to, spend a lot of time drilling down into.

I like Orbital, though.  Which probably proves nothing other than I like old pop music.  Was Orbital even ever considered pop music?  They did use “Halcyon+On+On” for a number of movies in the 1990s, but even then…

In other news, this is the premier episode for the hamsters.  I’m not entirely sure their “character design” (such as it is) will stay like this.  There’s a distinct problem in that their eyebrows blend into the background, so I’ll have to fiddle with things a bit in any event (behind the scenes info!)

That’s that for this one.  See ya Friday!
